Our Patio — Beautiful, Dog Friendly and Open All Season

The Lift Bar + Grill's patio in Boise is beautiful, dog friendly and open through the season, with seasonal drinks and patio-only specials.

One of Boise's Best Patios, Right on State Street

Ask regulars what they love most about The Lift Bar + Grill and many will say the same thing: the patio. Tucked behind the building at 4091 W State St, it is covered in flowering vines and grapevines that grow over the pergola and turn the whole space into a shady, green outdoor room. On a hot Boise afternoon it feels noticeably cooler out there, and it is easy to lose track of time. As we like to say, you will want to spend hours here as if it were your own backyard.

What Makes Our Patio Different

Natural shade from real vines

Instead of umbrellas and bare concrete, our patio has a living canopy. In spring the vines flower, through summer the leaves thicken into deep shade, and by late summer the grapevines are hanging over the tables. It is the kind of space you cannot build overnight, and it is why guests keep calling it one of the most unique patios in Boise.

Room to relax

Tables and chairs are spread across the patio so there is space for a quiet drink for two or a long table of friends. It is comfortable for an after-work beer, a slow weekend brunch or an evening that stretches past sunset.

Dogs welcome

Leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome on the patio, and they get their own pup menu: a plain hamburger patty or grilled chicken for $4, three bacon strips for $3, a scoop of vanilla ice cream for $2 and a pup cup with a biscuit for $1. It is one of the reasons The Lift is known as a dog-friendly restaurant in Boise.

Eat and Drink on the Patio

The full main menu is available outside: burgers, sandwiches, salads, wings and shareables. On Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 1pm the patio is the best seat for brunch, especially with a $4 Bloody Mary or mimosa. For drinks, the Lift favorite on a warm day is a glass of New Age White over ice with lime, or a cold pitcher from our beer list.

Patio Season Specials

Our regular daily specials run on the patio all week: $1.50 tacos on Tuesday, $1.50 wings on Wednesday, $4 off pitchers on Thursday and $13 fish and chips on Friday, plus weekday happy hour from 3pm to 6pm. In the warmer months we also add seasonal drinks and patio specials. Ask your server what is on right now.

Parties and Get-Togethers

The patio is a natural fit for birthdays, farewell drinks, team celebrations and summer reunions. For larger groups, call (208) 342-3250 so we can help with seating. Groups of eight or more may have a 20% gratuity added. Order a spread of nachos, wings and pork street tacos for the table and let everyone graze.

When Is the Patio Open?

The patio is open through the warm season, typically from spring into fall, weather permitting. On cooler or rainy days, the dining room and bar are right inside, with big TVs and plenty of seating. If you are planning a visit around the patio, give us a call and we will let you know how it is looking.

Finding Us

The Lift is at 4091 W State St, Boise, ID 83703, a short drive from downtown Boise, the North End and Garden City, with on-site parking. See our contact page for directions, or read more about The Lift.

A Perfect Afternoon on the Patio

Not sure how to spend a summer day at The Lift? Here is how regulars do it. Arrive for a late weekend brunch around noon and grab a table in the shade. Order the chicken fried steak or the Lifted Benny, with a $4 mimosa. As brunch winds down, switch to a pitcher and a plate of nachos or Idaho Tatchos while the afternoon games come on inside. If you brought your dog, a pup cup and biscuit keeps them happy. On a weekday, the same plan works after work: come for happy hour at 3pm, order a round of wings or tacos, and stay until the lights come on over the tables.

Why Shade Matters in Boise

Boise summers are hot and sunny, and many patios around town are hard to enjoy in the middle of the day. Ours is different because the vines do the work. The canopy blocks the direct sun while letting air move through, so you can sit comfortably through lunch, happy hour and into the evening. It is one of the simplest reasons guests keep coming back all season long.

The Patio on Game Days

In early fall, college football and patio season overlap. Many guests start the afternoon outside with a pitcher and some shareables, then head in to the big TVs for kickoff. It is one of the best parts of September in Boise.
