Our Story: A Neighborhood Bar and Grill on State Street

The Lift Bar + Grill has been part of Boise's State Street neighborhood for well over a decade. We started with a simple idea: a place where people could get a good meal, a cold drink and a friendly welcome without any fuss. Years later that is still what we do. It has never really been "about us" so much as it is about you, our guests. The coolest staff in town work hard to make sure everyone who comes through the door has a good time, enjoys the cocktails and great food, and finds some lively conversation.

The name and the look nod to Idaho's ski hills and mountain towns, but the spirit is pure neighborhood bar. Regulars know each other by name, first-timers are welcomed like old friends, and nobody is in a hurry to leave.

What You Will Find at The Lift

A real kitchen

Our menu is built on bar and grill favorites made in house: burgers like The Lift Burger and the Spicy Guac, sandwiches like the Nashville Hot Chick and the Cuban, salads, homemade soup every day, and shareables from Idaho Tatchos to hand-cut finger steaks. On weekends we serve a full brunch from 10am to 1pm.

A full bar

We pour plenty of beers on tap, keep a wide selection of bottles and seltzers, mix cocktails and shots, and offer a wine list that includes Idaho's own Sawtooth Red Blend and Indian Creek Riesling. See the full list on our Uncorked page.

Sports and games

Big TVs make The Lift a favorite place to watch Boise State football and the rest of the week's big games. Every week we also host free Music Bingo on Wednesdays and Game Night Live Trivia on Thursdays, both at 7pm. Find it all on our events page.

A shaded patio

Our vine-covered patio is one of the most unique outdoor spaces in Boise, and dogs are welcome with their own pup menu.

Specials Our Regulars Plan Around

We have always believed a neighborhood bar should be affordable. Long before most places had a weekly lineup, The Lift was known for deals like Holy Oly nights with cheap Olympia beer and homemade clam chowder every Friday. Today the tradition continues with Munchie Monday, Taco Tuesday, Wing Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday pitchers and Fish Friday, plus happy hour Monday through Friday from 3pm to 6pm. See everything on our specials page.

Families and Groups Welcome

The Lift is a bar, but it is also a place for families, teams and big groups. Kids love the Stack O' Cakes at brunch and the chicken strips any time. Groups of eight or more may have a 20% gratuity added, and calling ahead at (208) 342-3250 helps us get a table ready.

Food To Go

Food has always been available to go at The Lift. Call in your order at (208) 342-3250 and pick it up on your way home. Bottled beer and wine can be added too. See the to-go page for details.

What Our Guests Say

We are thankful for all of our loyal customers, and we love hearing from them. A few words guests have shared with us:

Our Neighborhood

The Lift is on W State St in northwest Boise, part of a busy stretch of neighborhoods between downtown, the North End and Garden City. Plenty of our guests live within a few minutes of us, and many stop in on the way home from work. That neighborhood feel shapes everything we do: fair prices, familiar faces, and a menu that works whether you are grabbing a quick lunch or settling in for a long night of games.

Why We Do What We Do

Running a neighborhood bar is about more than food and drinks. It is about giving people a reliable place to celebrate a win, meet new friends, bring the family for brunch, or unwind after a long week. We try to earn that trust every day with a clean, comfortable room, a kitchen that cares about what goes on the plate, and staff who remember your order. If we get that right, the rest takes care of itself.
